CHRISTMAS IN SEPTEMBER?

Well not really, but here is an image I made for my friends. See I have an interesting way of wrapping gifts to be handed out to my dearest of friends. First, I only use plain brown package covering paper. No use in putting on that festive holiday crud, that wont do. Next I take some form of heavy black pen and I proceed to write a message on the wrapping paper that is desinged specifically for the person who I am giving the gift to.
This message can take many forms including: a hint to what the present is, a heartfilled annecdote, or a detailed description of the person's horrible death by means of the gift. Knowing me of course, last year I chose to write how each of my friends were going to die horribly because of the gifts I had just given them. Along with the wrapping went that picture you see up above.
That picture was done using my standard method, but the source was this really ugly british woman who was on some kind of American Idol rip off. All you need to know is that in un-zombified form she's much more hideous than what you see above. Sadly I don't have the source, otherwise I'd really make you feel sick. That reminds me, I need to plan out what I'm going to do this year for christmas. I have to think of a christmas related image that will really turn someone's stomach inside out upon viewing it.

And this is pretty much the last time I ever wanted to use Poser.

Okay, here's the deal. I was chatting with Molly and we were exchanging ideas for a picture. She wanted me to do something involving a meditating monk... sitting position and all. After reading that description I immediately thought of that famous Vietnam picture of the monk who lit himself on fire. Well, since there was already a picture of that... I'd have to create my own version using Poser.
Poser, like I've stated before, is a piece of shit. If you can imagine trying to manipulate fine points of a 3d model with a 2d interface, then you can fathom why I hate this program. It's bad enough that the controls don't make any sense, but it gets worse when you know what you want to do and you have to fight with the program to do it. The very worst part of it is that the flat shaded textures of the model have no collision detection. So parts, no matter how "normally" posed, well cut into each other making the whole damn thing look shitty when you run your final render. I spent hours trying to get the position of the feet just right... but it just would not work. Essentially what I ended up with was a figure who's feet were sticking out of the top of his thighs. That's just not right, so that's why you can't see the lower portion of the figure. Luckily the fire I pasted on top worked out just perfectly.
The face of the figure is actually a real photograph taken of a japanese burn victim. The original picture (which I do not have) shows that the person was so badly burned that they had a weird troll/orc like apperance. It's quite disturbing, so naturally I had to incorporate it into one of my pictures. The background is a standard beksinski paitning.

Well, it was inevitable. Sooner or later I'd have to talk about this picture.

The red-head in that picture is Molly, the blonde is her (and my) friend, Allie. Molly and I have known each other for many years and are very close. Unfortunately the one word that can be used to describe the relationship we have is, "complicated." I need not go into details since the people who are actually reading this blog already know the whole story. Regardless of how things have turned out through the years, I still care a lot about her, and I hope she does the same for me.
SO, after a nice 2 year period of us not speaking to each other, things changed and it lead to a very fun get-together in San Diego a year ago. Since then Molly and I have kept in touch and every now and then I try to a picture of hers and doozy it up for her. First I want to say, this is odd. Why? Because photoshopping one of your romantic interests into a zombie brings up uneasy feelings, especially when you have to do an extensive amount of clone stamping to remove clothing (Clothing of course, gets in the way of laying down textures). It's much easier to photoshop someone you don't know or have had any "real" contact with into a zombie. Oh well... here I go.

This one was pretty simple, and looking back now of course it doesn't look all that great. Obvious I could've used higher resolution textures for the face and a little beefing up of the blood coming out of the eyes and mouth. Now, onto the "big" one.

As you can see, I took the original photo up there and tried to do something a little "big" with it. This was my first "big" project. Back in January, Allie was visiting Molly out in New York, so Molly asked me if I could photoshop something of them together. It took me 5 tries to get this picture to look as it does now. Each time I was avoiding what I knew was the only way to do the picture. Once again, clothes get in the way... so I had to either spend a ton of time clone stamping them out or I would reconstruct the bodies in the god awful program that is Poser. Well, I remade the bodies in Poser and tried to match the figures up the best I could with the original photograph. Next I cut and pasted the original faces on the poser bodies and tried to match them up just right. Next was to add detail, which in this case came from Giger and screen shots of Evil Dead 2. Add a little vivisection photo from Anatomica Encyclopedia and WAH LAH! Impressive shit that everyone loves.

Okay, if my memory serves me right, this should be the last "Kirbson" picture.

If I can find the original source image, I'll put it up, but for now here it is. At first I thought that this was my least favorite of the series, but now looking at it again I think I like it. I was initially dissapointed with it considering the great number of photoshop filters I rand to make it look good. Basically I just took scans of body parts from Anatomica Encylcopedia and pasted it over the girl's figure. After that it was just a lot of color adjustment, accented edges brush filtering, and some zoom blurring. The picture is a little small due to me using that 15 inch LCD screen at the time, but hey... it looks good. That's it for tonight folks, have a wonderful tomorrow.

Okay, today I'm going to almost finish up with the "Kirbson" set. I think there's one more after this

Now this picture just pissed me off to no end. When I saw it, I said to myself "It's your job to make this woman ugly." Seriously, doesn't looking at that picture make you mad? Sure she's a very attractive girl, but with a picture like that... it's almost mocking whoever views it. It's hard to explain, but just on some primal level it made me angry. So I made this.

Ahhh that's better. When I showed this picture to the young lady, she was quite impressed and said it was the best one I ever did. It's somewhat smaller because at the time I was using a 15 inch flat panel monitor which had a maximum resolution of 1024x768. Not enough room to work with at that resolution so I cropped it down a bit. The skin texture was a beksinski painting, some of the bones and other features came from scans out of Encylcopedia Anatomica, but most of it was done by me taking the burn tool in photoshop and going over the face like an angry child with a black crayon.

The adventures of little miss "Kirbson" continues. Remember I have not met this person... nor do I even know her first name. She just takes lots of pictures and posts them on a message board for attention.

The first picture you can see that I was mixing giger textures with T-800 endoskeleton parts. In the second picture I wanted to go fo ra more subtle look. I used pictures of ice and gravel for the general texture. To get that bruising effect on the top left area, I incorporated a screen cap of the basement monster in Evil Dead 2 and adjusted the colors. It turned out rather well, didn't it?

Okay, here we go again!

This time I matched up the original with the photoshop. FYAD stands for "Fuck You and Die." A very popular forum at SomthingAwful.com Yet again I look back on my older work and feel dissapointed. I remember this looking so cool when I made it back in January. I had just purchased my wacom tablet and was going wild with it. The eviscerated part of her body is actually a scan from Leonardo Da Vinci book I've got lying about showing some of his sketches of human anotomy. The background is a beksinski painting, and that giant floating head in the sea of blood came from watching too much of End of Evangelion. That head belongs to a real dead woman, it's a common picture found on those ultra gorey websites like consumption junction and rotten.com Now that I've severely grossed you all out, there is one more thing you must do.

WHO PUT THIS SHIT HERE?
Seriously, no one told me I had a blog... and by having one I'd have to put shit on it. Psh, this internet business isn't what's cracked up to be. People showing up on contact lists unannounced... people posting weird zombie pictures, ALL WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! Man it's a mad house in this internet. Alright... here's something.
Here I decided to start ripping off Mr. Beksinski and took the picture of some rather attractive but oddly camwhorish girl to mess around with. This was the result. A lot of clone stamping, zoom blurring, and noise filtering. It's cool to look at but at the same time dissapointing in my eyes. I don't like filters and here's a time when I was using nothing but because I lacked the necessary skills to do better. I have a whole ton of these pictures that use the same girl as source material. The great thing about camwhores, is that they always take lots and lots of pictures.
Before I had a long winded description of what happened to me today. It was boring so now...

BABA CHUMP!

VOLLEYBALL CLAIMS ANOTHER VICTIM
No it wasn't my shoulder, it was this.

That's the symbol I've been wearing around my neck since December of 1998. It means "monkey" Being born in 1980 labels me as a monkey, but that's not why I wore it around my neck all the time, I did so because it was given to me by Molly while we were on our first official "date." It's just some little trinket, but it's one of the very few things that I've had sentimental attachment with. Most everything else I own can easily be replaced, but that can't be. Since I received it, Molly and I have been friends, not friends, more then friends, and all sorts of complications but having that necklace always helped me remember a time when things between us were nothing but good. So yeah, I lost it while playing volley ball, took it off in a grass field late at night and stuffed it into my shoes before playing. When I left, I took everything out of the shoes but forgot the necklace. It just makes me sad of course, it's gone and I can never get it back. The necklace in a way is similar to the person who gave it to me. I'll let Boffo, the clown of despair show you all how I feel right now.

So yesterday I went out to look for a Job with my friends Brian and Gurg at the nearby casino. Luckily for me the casino is just a few miles south of my home, one of the perks of living on the Southern (ass) end of Phoenix. In this town if you go south of Pecos Rd. you're pretty much in reservation territory. The Gila River casino has changed over the few years I've been here. First it started out small like about the size of a Chuckie Cheese, then they moved into this large circus tent like place, an now it's a giant resort. It's a nice facility and the Human Resources department was shockingly not hidden and in plain view. Of course trying to get there was a bit tough and involved driving through a labyrinth of backroads that led us first to the resort area and not the casino area that we wanted. That's okay, it gave us some time to listen to some Minibosses mp3's I burned to disc. By the time we arrived at the HR department, OF COURSE it was closed at exactly 5:00 on a Friday. Damn people, don't they know they should be staying late just to give me a job?
Well that was a complete bust, so we headed back up I-10 to Ray rd. where one of those Americanized sake/sushi bar+grill establishments happens to be. The place is called RA, which is the dumbest title of all, because "RA" is just a syllable in Japanese. Imagine going up to your friend and alerting him or her that you want to go to your favorite Bar+Grill "SE" because they have excellent fried pork asses. Well certainly telling your friend that you want to eat fried pork ass is silly enough, but you get my point. Of course a place like "RA" appeals to the mindless hordes of rich, approaching middle aged, white people that live in my community. To be honest, I don't know how these people got rich, or jobs for that matter. Here I sit constantly searching for a job, while these idiots (and I know they're idiots... I've fixed their computers) somehow have yearly incomes of over $60k a year yet don't understand that when they kick out the ethernet cable from their computer that it will no longer "get the internet." However, that's not the point. The point is... fake breasts. The richer a community is, the more often you'll see women with fake breasts. Phoenix, Arizona is for what I can tell the capital of fake breasts, fake tans, and giant short bus yellow H2's (one of those ridiculously large hummer vehicles).
"But... aren't you male? Don't men like large breasts?"
Hey, I like a large pair of lovely knockers as much as the next guy, but with me it's all natural or nothing. I'd rather a woman's breasts be small and natural than looking like someone shoved a softball underneath her skin. It's just not attractive. So this is what Brian, gurg, and Myself saw at "Ra's" while we were eating cheap sushi. Women with fake breasts.
The moral of the story
Jobs are hard to find. Human Resource departments close at 5:00 pm sharp. People in Ahwatukee are rich, white, and dumb. And...
nothing gets me hot like 100% ALL NATURAL LASER BOOBS!

Here's a picture that grossed me the fuck out after I did it. Sometimes I make shit that's really sick, but I don't realize I'm making it so until after I'm finished.

How lovely. The story behind this one is that someone in an irc channel gave me the picture on the left to do "nasty things to" but didn't want to me to alert the person in the picture (who also frequents the channel) that he'd given it to me. Now right off the bat, the person who gave me the picture is an idiot. The girl would know he gave away the image as soon as she saw it photoshopped. With that being understood, I thought Ithat something horrific would be best instead of the obvious lewd joke. So cutting out her cheek from the inside with a switchblade (hard to see) was the only sensible idea I could come up with.
Right now I feel like shit flattened out by a wooden mallot. I also need a job, do any of you out there have a job you want to give away? Today I got up at 9:00, a little hazy but nothing I couldn't handle. At around 9:30 I go to turn the old "machine" one and check all the usual websites and emails. Hopefully in about 2 hours I'll head out with my friend's Brian and Gurg to look for jobs at a nearby indian casino. Although I don't think this will be successful for me, since my Father is a former employee of this casino which the current tribal council of the reservation has bad blood with. This is a sign among many other signs that it is time for me to get the hell out of Arizona.

Okay, here's something I made really quick last night in about half an hour. This was for my friend, Nick's, birthday. For those who don't know, the character hugging him is Drizzt, which I guess is from the Dark Elf trilogy. I wouldn't know, I've never been a big fan of fantasy novels. If I had more time I would've really done this one up well, however... I got the source image rather late last night and if I wanted to get it done that day, I had to rush it.
Oh well, here's the picture.
Oh well, here's the picture.

Once again, more face blending! And this time I went too far!
Just like before, here's the original picture.

That ugly kid again<== this is a link, click on it you jerk wads!
And here's the final result.

I'm ready to throw up, how about you?

Well, my shoulder no longer hurts.
Right now I'm thinking of what else to put up. While I have a whole ton of pictures I still haven't posted, I wanted to put up some of a series that I did that take not only some explaining but some uploading that I haven't done yet. Seeing as how I'm posting this from a computer not my own, I cannot do this now. But, my shoulder no longer hurts and this is good. For the first time in a long while, I failed at a photoshop. When the word "failure" comes up, it means that an attempt was made to take an image in my mind and make it into a 2 dimensional reality. Molly (you'll learn about her later for those who aren't in the know) asked me to photoshop a picture of her and her cat. She said she wanted her eyes to be empty, but have a full thrid eye in the center of her forehead. She also didn't want her cat to be horrifically zombitized. As for other requirements she desired a more "Dali" look. Unfortunately a figure that has 2 empty eyes and one full eye in the center isn't exactly Dali's style. I figured I'd do something similar to Barlowe's Inferno. Figures looking like they're made of cracked stone while having glowing sigils appear in front of their faces. Unfortunately I did not have the scans or textures to do this, and the book itself costs 25 bucks just for 24 some odd pages.
So to make a long story short, I tried and failed. The source image given to me was too dark and too grainy to do what I wanted to do with it. So it's back to the drawing board... or worse... I may have to use poser. I HATE poser. The man who designed the interface for that program should be slowly tortured by having his skin burned off with hot irons. But yes, I failed... and I hate failing.
So... I'll talk about some success I've had with face blending. You've already seen it before with the ebert picture below. Here's some pictures I did for a forum called NoCarlNo (don't ask). Here's the rundown, on this forum there's this whiney 16 year old MALE greaseball who has a very feminine appearance. The running joke is that other forumers will find pictures that look like this kid and challenge me to meld the faces. So here are some examples.
Here's the original picture.

More later, stay tuned!

Here's the ugly kid<== this is a link, click on it you jerk wads!
And here's the result
More later, stay tuned!

I don't like volleyball, and my arm hurts like hell.
So today I thought I'd go play volleyball with my friends, which I guess is something they do every sunday. I haven't played volleyball since I was in the 5th grade, and tonight I was reminded why. While I was position near the net, I went to go spike the ball down on the opposing team's end of the court, only to find that an old shoulder injury of mine decided to come back to haunt me. It hasn't happened in quite some time, so long in fact that I thought the dislocating deal was finally stopped. Well not so. It's never fun having your shoulder slip out from underneath your collar bone. Never fun at all. So that happened and then I went for a little walk only to come back and play another game. Unfortunately by the end of the game my arm started to swell up and say "fuck you" to my brain every time I wanted to move it. Seeing as how I was the odd man out anyway, I sat out for the next two games. After just sitting around I realized that I should merely go home. I was already being the odd man out along with being a bump on a log and at that time I figured it was best to leave early. I would have plenty of time to go home to prepare to capture tonight's episode of Big O season 2 (great show, for all who don't know).
So to sum things up, I don't like volleyball. To me it's a really unfun silly game. A lot like ping pong only with more people, a higher net, and loads of sand that seems to get everywhere. Yes, much like Anakin Skywalker, I don't have much love for sand. Oh well, I still have Big O to watch so the evening isn't a total waste. Cheers.

Okay so it's been a few days since I put something up.

This delightful little image was done by using a composite of poser, beksinksi paintings for texture, and scans from the wonderful book Anatomica Encylopedia. The book has many photographs of wax sculptures that were made to depict vivisections that were performed on human bodies in the late 16th century. Seeing as how photographs didn't exist back then, some folk in that age were smart enough to preserve reality in other forms of reproduction.
Back to the picture, I always wanted to do a picture that showed one of the munch-ish creatures tearing off their expressionist skin to reveal a very real physique of muscle, bone, and tissue. It was also to show a transition of mine from doing the poser style stuff, to working on human bodies. Seeing as how by that time I hated poser with a passion, this seemed like a good thing to do. I have no idea why the picture is as small as it turned out. I think it's because at the time I had just gotten a new viewsonic flat panel monitor, but had to deal with the problem of it having only a native resolution of 1024x768. When I learn how to make more detailed figures in either maya or 3dsmax, I'll try and recreate this picture.
